My experience regarding this item was both frustrating and time consuming. I was optimistic when I purchased this item, but it quickly disappeared shortly after it arrived. This item not only was completely ineffective, it crashed and ‘froze’ my computer each of the many times I installed and uninstalled the software.
The box itself is nothing more than a plastic container filled with frustration and cheaply produced electronics which fail to perform the simplest tasks.
In my view, this item needs to left on the shelf in favor of a more productive adapter.

So the device works but I highly recommend to use with Skype version 3.8 and no later version (i.e. 4+). I use it with speed dial which is great (later version of Skype do not support this feature entirely).
Very often however, I have to unplug/replug the device to have it work properly. It is not always a smooth ride, sometimes I restart the software (skype+skypmate), and sometimes I don’t have to. But it always work with minimal efforts.
I am happy with the device and I’d buy it again.

Item came very quick, 2 business days, package was damaged, but equipment is fine, works as described. Running on a Intel Dual Core (2000MHZ x 2, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 32 Bit) I let Windows handle the driver and only installed the SkypeMate program from the CD. Darn thing works really really well. Phone is a Uniden 5.8GHZ DXAI5588-2 has a slave unit that still works as well

I set it up, but it would only redial the last number called, until I switched back to an earlier version of Skype (get it from http://www.oldapps.com , really neat that such a site exists).
Now it works flawlessly. Really pleased with it. I spent $160 twice, buying Skype phones that work directly with the router, but they did not deliver the range or audio quality that I need. We are getting great results with this box and our old Panasonic cordless phones.
Really good, inexpensive solution, as long as you do not mind leaving a PC on the whole time.
