I bought this router two months ago and it fried during a power surge at my house over the weekend. I can’t say how disappointed I am with this purchase. First, it was expensive to buy. Secondly, Amazon has not returned my e-mails concerning this defunct router. Lastly, I am not able to get tech support from Linksys because I did not buy the router directly from them. In total, I am very disappointed with the product.

I bought this as an upgrade for my venerable PAP2T. Came in yesterday, up and running smoothly today. Nice piece of gear so far. I will update when it has been in service a while.

For phone service, works like a charm! Set it up with callcentric.com. Very easy! Sound quality better than cell, but not as good as land line. In my book, that’s excellent! I am still working on getting the fax function to work. I will be trying ringcentral.com…I could not figure out the settings for callcentric.com for faxing.
I could not do away with my phone lines, though as my dsl provider does not offer “naked dsl” or dsl without phone service. If you are a cable internet user then all okay. If you are dsl user, check if you can get naked dsl, or else savings won’t be much.
All-in-all worked so well I purchased the Cisco SPA-8800 and converted 2 of my 4 office lines over to VoIP. Just saved my self $100/month on phone bills.

Bought this to use with Callcentric VOIP. Got here quickly, setup was pretty straightforward, phone and computers working great. I’m using it as a router: cable modem –> SPA2102 –>2d router (linksys wrt54gl) for pcs.
I haven’t noticed any excessive heat (as others have mentioned on other sites) but I’m not pushing it very hard. I have it on a small rack with airflow top and bottom; if heat becomes an issue, could add a small fan but doubt if I’ll need to.
One thing I haven’t found in the menus (which are extensive) is an option to save my settings to a file. This may exist and I just haven’t found it, haven’t really done an exhaustive search. But with all the parameters required for setup it would be nice to be able to save it.
Not impressed with documentation. Nothing printed, not even a card… and what’s on the CD isn’t all that thorough either. Scrounging around online got more docs but still not what I would expect for a product like this. Maybe I haven’t scrounged enough.
But it seems to work and work well, which is the point. If it keeps doing what it’s doing now I’ll be happy as the proverbial clam.
