Add the third competitor NetTalk. it is the same device as the magicjack but does not need a computer.

Well in the hardware cost should include the cost of a PC seeing magic jack needs one to make a phone calls. It is acting like a server for the magic jack and with out a PC it is not going to work. so even if you include a PC the price will change for the price comparison to break even. lets say you get a PC for $200 then + $40 for magic jack = $240 now after 10 years at $20 = $200 and them together = $440 for total price after 10 years. ooma is cheaper than magic jack.(time in vid 3:42)

@TranceScene But, if Ooma is smashed, then no phone service.
Ooma’s one time fee will take 250 months for Ooma to even out with magicJack… the big question is, will Ooma survive that long?

first people are overrated

The $11.75 Ooma annual fee starts on the SECOND year which this review does not specify. The first year is alread paid for.
Unless you want to always be dependent on a compter to be turned on in order to make or receive calls, Ooma is the clear choice. If you have the $30/mo Vonage, your Ooma will be paid for in 7 months. Sooner if your current monthly bill is more.
Ooma $9/mo premium is only if you need advanced features like 3 way. Caller ID, voicemail, and call waiting are free.

There is no comparison.
Magic Jack requires a pc to be ON to make and receive calls. PC crashes, no phone. This is going to be their downfall I think.
To make international calls with Magic Jack, every different home you call must have a computer with Magic Jack installed. Both parties must have their computers turned on at the same time for the call to complete. Pain in the ass.
Ooma is one time $249 with no monthly fees ever and no pc required.
Ooma is the Magic Jack killer.
