Another fine piece of shit shat out by Netgear.
This gadgets are amazing once you have one on your hands you became addicted to them.
I have a Belkin wi fi Skype mobile phone.
Cellphones are expensive and unnecessary pieces of crap.
AT&T SUCKS!
i am currently using ooma. it’s great. i paid $220 for the device and the service is free. i no longer have to pay the telephone bill, ever. u have to pay skype monthly fee. that’s suck.
ooma sound quality is like a land line.
u have to get pamfax for skype.
well? how is it? where is the review? can u fax with it? how do u fax with skype?
i just bought sph200W, which doesnt have the modem and it was 130 at Frys Electronics. I have one month to test this out. So far its good, but connection loss is probably my ISP’s fault. I’m switching to DSL I wont have to share the line with neighbors because I have cable. ITs clear but operators with #’s arent going thru correctly. Its weird.
Yes, you need it. That white box is not a modem as you called. Based on my experience, the call quality is crispy clear. The skype call quality is no different to the land line call. There is also wifi skype phone, which is not as good as this one. I heard many complaint about call quality of wifi skype phone. But all manufactures are no longer make these kind of skype phone. So the price is jacked up on ebay.
does this have a speaker?? Is it clear when you make calls??? DO U REALLY NEED that MODEM if you already have a wireless router?? THANKS
You don’t need landline to make skype out call. Skype out call is defined as any call that relates to a phone with a number. Skype In is defined as normal phone can call your skype device by dialing a normal phone number. The phone shown in here is the dual function phone that can make or receive call through landline OR as a Skype device.
Do you got to have a landline in order to use skype out or can you just use your computer? Seems like a silly question, but i’m new to this skype thing.
Typo’s lol
If you sign up to the £19.50+Vat Skype Subscription (£19.50pa) your kids or yourself will get free UK landline calls 24hrs a day for the year.
The subscription also includes a real UK telephone number that Skype attach to your Skype account, that enables your Skype account to be called by any real landline or mobile network provider, You also get a free VOICEMAIL account for the year.
This works like a PayAsUgo except you get free landline calls regardless of topping up.
This is pretty cool to get for your kids for in their bedroom, and then subscribe them to a skype UK landline subscription.
If you give them say the £19.50 + vat Skype subscription (thats £19.50 for the year), your kids or yourself will get free landline calls 24hrs a day for the year which includes a real uk local telephone number that you can give to your mates so you can call you from a normal real phones + you get a free VOICEMAIL account for the year of your subscription. A++
I just got mine today, and so far so good.
It setup with default settings pretty much as soon as i plugged it into my router, i just entered my user name and password… Job Done.
This thing works a treat, and actually sounds as good as a landline when using it through skype.
I give it 4 out of 5
The Linksys CIT400, Netgear SPH200D & Philips VOIP841 all share the same internal hardware, but i must admit i prefer the look of the Philips Voip841 over all of the Skype phones.
The Linksys CIT400 is no longer made and the Philips VOIP841 is also no longer made, but the Netgear SPH200D is selling like hot cakes
so Amazon told me.
The Philips VOIP841 still holds its price even though it has been officially discontinued and are like gold dust.
Right now the Netgear SPH200d is King!
I have been using a Voip phone CIT400 made by linksys for more than 20 months. The phone is wonderful and has an amazing voice quality for the calls. As long as I know the linksys CIT400 was discontinued and now been sold as Netgear SPH200D. If this phone has the same features as the cit400 without doubt is a good phone for skype users.
i think the wep encryption is engraved on a sticker at the bottom of the base station
can you get wifi signal with the base station?
can you connect it with a router?
nice rewew
good video! thanks for your review!
