iPad incoming/outgoing calling using Google Voice, Gizmo5 & iSip
This is the most streamlined method that I know of so far for both making & receiving calls on the iPad using your Google Voice number. Most the other methods require you to dial out using a 2nd device or computer, but not this one. It will ring even if your iPad is asleep & the app is closed. Forward your Google Voice number to your Gizmo5 SIP number in your GV account settings online, then use the iSip app setup wizard to choose the Gizmo5 setting, input your Gizmo5 username/password, enable APNS in the account manager & input your Gizmo5 number in the Phone Number field under the Advanced Settings, save it all then set the account to On. Should be good to go then.

This How-To is about 8 minutes longer than it needs to be…

wow thanks for taking twice as long as you could have taken.

nice man. thanks for the info. I hope that you post a similar video when you test it using the iPad wifi +3G to see if this work using the damn AT&T 3G cellular network. And this the question; why can’t Apple open up their iphone and ipad to every cellphone company, regardless of the answer to this question, the opportunity cost to apples is so huge by not not unlocking their ipad and ipbone to all carriers. peace

Can I get an actual how to, as far as how to set the settings between the three sites? I’m so confused, and can’t get it to work.

Excellent how-to. Yet another reason to plunk down coinage for an iPad, and another for why land lines are going the way of the dinosaur.
Apparently you’ve put your iPad through its paces: 6:45 Smudgola! : )

BTW, some people I’ve called or who have called me have said there is sometimes an echo on their end when I don’t use a headset. This is probably because the iPad’s mic is picking up the speaker as well. So it seems as if the iSip app is just simply allowing the mic to pick up the sound from the speaker. So basically you’ll wanna use either a Bluetooth headset or at the very least a basic pair of regular old headphones (while still using the iPad’s built in mic).

I’ve subscribed to his channel only for Apple keynotes, nothing else.

is this suppose to be sarcastic? $6, not too bad.
May 21st, 2010 at 10:15 am
Sugestion: don’t put out videos with 5 min of pause and silences cuz it’s boring to watch. Try to sketch some speech guidelines or something.
Aside that it’s cool.
