This has all the things I love. First it’s so easy to set up a client I don’t have to spend countless hours helping someone fuss over settings. One of our least computer savy players was set up in minutes completely on her own. That alone sold me on ease of use. Server side is amazing. Very quick configurations from the client UI. Settings abound. You can take a few minutes to bang out a simple config, or dive in for advance settings and multi group privileges. Love it!

@planetteamspeak
Took the words right out of my mouth.
What are the advantages of Voice Encryption anyways…so people can’t steal your voice, or what?
November 28th, 2010 at 4:35 am
@Kissaki0 Here’s a statement from one of the last changelogs:
… Voice packets are now not transfered encrypted by default. Added options to configure this behavior on virtual server or per channel level …
Voice packets were encrypted by default in previous versions. The devs changed this on request from the community to improve the servers performance. Disabling encryption is especially useful for big servers as it cuts down on CPU usage. Just re-enable it if you want to.

@thehghclan TS3 is for free, but not free software. And the license-crap is a hassle. (A moved server suddenly going offline bc. the old one was in-place as an empty redirector)
November 28th, 2010 at 5:56 am
@thehghclan Yes, and that means its optional. Which may, doesn’t have to ofc, mean I’ll be on servers or chans which don’t have it. And as it’s optional and default off it may be not that high of a priority to make it really efficient.
In my opinion it shouldn’t be optional but an efficient always-encryption.

@Kissaki0
What do you mean encryption? They just recently added the encryption ability by a per channel basis, or entire server.
There are multiple overlays out there, but they are all Work in Progress. The one’s I have used have worked great and are very VERY extensive.
TS3 also has positional audio.
TS3 has incredible low latency as well.
And TS3 is free, too
Have you used TS3 much? I can try to help you out, if you are lost

Oh hell I have to get teamspeak for that “server icon feature”.
November 28th, 2010 at 7:21 am
Good trailer.
But it’s still in Beta …
And I prefer Mumble anyway. For features, (like encryption, overlay, pos-audio, and esp. low latency) and as free software.
