The catch to this is you can call from your phone, but the person in another country who you are trying to reach, has to be on their computer. You can’t use Skype Mobile to contact someone else on their cell phone. And, whether the other person has internet access in a foreign country is iffy. When my daughter was going to Austria this past May we thought that each of us having Skype Mobile was going to be the way we would make calls. Wrong!

I just downloaded this app for my BlackBerry Curve-it works great! I called one of my friends and the call quality was great.
This is a great service-and its really cool that verizon has it. I have had a lot of good experieces with Skype in the past and its good to see it on my BlackBerry.

It just auto downloaded on my Verizon Blackberry last night

So I’m on Verizon with my BlackBerry Curve 8330, and download the app. But then I can’t run it because the error tells me “Skype mobile can only be used on Verizon Wireless phones.” My only option is “Close”.
Did Verizon really FORGET to that they just bought Alltel, and that this is now hardware of theirs that needs to be included??
#FAIL

Alot of you are misinformed about the Verizon Skype Merger. It is still possible to use Skype on other carriers but the version of Skype for Verizon offers alot of added functionality. The biggest of which being the fact that Skype for Verizon will run on its 3G network as opposed to strictly wifi on other carriers networks. This is a good thing because the 3G networks of AT&T and T-Mobile are largely composed of popsicle sticks and chewing gum.

It’s not good thing.
Skype is avaible from when i remember.
Now only verizon users can use it.
Suck

Excellent! I have both Skype and Verizon and didn’t know they merged until now. Too cool! Verizon is the only company I’ll use bcs they have the BEST customer service. You couldn’t pay me to use AT&T.

Verizon rocks! Love this new feature, can’t believe it’s free though. Yay!
…there’s gotta be a catch somewhere

The most condescending voice-over I’ve heard in a long, long time.
