does anyone try to use this device while making certain toll-free numbers? (i.e. 800, 877, 866, 888 for north america, 0800 for UK)

You DO know that Catholicism is a Christian denomination, yes?
Or perhaps you are one of these, “all other faiths suck except for the one I follow” types.

1D,
Belkin only sells one Desktop Skype Phone… so it should be easy to find. — If you want an alternative, I would suggest that you take a look at one of those USB Headset/Microphone units. They bypass your internal sound card and typically their sound quality is pretty good.

so how do i buy what exactly should i look for on the skype site ,and is their something cheeper ,like20 30 dollars that will also fix the problom

1DJ,
Ok… so you’re going to want to disable full-duplex communications. Essentially you’ve either got a poorly-designed headset, speakers that are running at the same time, or come kind of crosstalk going on in the internal mixed on your computer.
You wouldn’t get that kind of echo with the Belkin phone.

1DjRadeoConscyous,
The quality of a Skype call (when you have enough bandwidth) has always been better than that of a cell phone or landline. — That means that a Skype-Skype call will sound better than a Skype-POTS or Skype-Cell call.

hagridandfang,
It’s a system of buying “minuted” on the Skype-In and Skype-Out service. You don’t have to pay anything to make calls on the Skype network itself. (i.e. Skype to Skype calls are always free) But if you go OFF the network (receive a call from the Cell or POTS network, or vice versa) you have to pay.

DerekNS74,
I am so very sorry for having offended you. Obviously we have not been sensitive enough in our production or clear enough in our delivery to avoid confusing poor individuals like yourself who lack the ability to understand that the vast majority of people in this world cannot be neatly divided into your own personal classifications.
In the future we will try to USE BIG LETTERS in our titles to ensure that you will not mistakenly be exposed to our callous work.
Peace,
Fr. Robert

I’m not a fan of Belkin, but thought I’d give them another try as I want a desktop Skype no computer needed phone so tried their F1PP010EN-SK. The keys don’t make solid connection so you have to pay attention with each press.
There is no dialing setting preferences for prefixes. So you always have to dial country and area codes and the + sign such as:
+1310
I’m returning it and I’ll try the IPEVO instead which has these prefs. Belkin makes inferior products and has poor tech support anyway.

I bought the phone and hooked it up relatively easily. I liked the phone, except for the fact that it constantly disconnected from the internet and wouldn’t re-connect without the user having to unplug and replug the phone, basically resetting it. I tried everything and couldn’t keep it connected to my relatively fast DSL Internet. Also, I know what you mean about the weight if the headset. It almost felt like a toy. But if you could keep it connected, yes it would be a good phone.
